Guild Wars: Factions (PC)
Guild Wars Nightfall (PC)
Guild Wars (PC)

If i wait till next month, all i have to buy is that new version of expansion?

The three games that are out at the moment are all stand-alone chapters. You do not need the original to be able to play the other two. The next one that's due to come out will require you to have at least one of the games that are out at the moment to be able to play it, so you'll need to choose one of the current games first.

The original (Guild Wars, or Guild Wars Prophecies) is an excellent place to start. It has a nice easy learning curve and introduces you to the 6 core professions.

Guild Wars Factions perhaps isn't the best place to start if you're a newcomer to the game. It has a very steep learning curve and it can be a bit frustrating at times. However, as a PvP primer Factions is perfect, and if you want to be able to play as an Assassin or Ritualist, you will need to have this chapter.

Guild Wars Nightfall is also a pretty good place to start. The learning curve is relatively easy, and allows you to recruit heroes (super-powered henchmen that you have full control over). As this is the most recent chapter, this is also where you'll find the highest concentration of other players (so easier to find other people to group with). Also, if you want to be able to play as a Dervish or Paragon, you will need to have this chapter.

For more information, there is also a sticky thread on this forum that goes into more detail about these three games, and which one might be your best option for starting out. Welcome to the world of GW!

Welcome to the world of GW! Hope you enjoy yourself. Like Toutatis said, check out the sticky for a good review of each chapter. Most people will recomment the original (Prophecies) over the other two, and very few will recomment factions for people new to GW.

If you've got access to a Sam's club, you can get all three chapters for $50.

Here's a link that will help you decide. Always read the stickies or other threads to avoid asking the same question someone asked the day before and the day before that. There are also several other threads asking the same question on this page. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10102502
